Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks with reporters at the conclusion the G7 Leaders’ Summit in Carbis Bay, U.K. In his remarks, he confirms that Canada has committed to donating or paying for up to 100 million doses as part of the G7 countries’ promise to share COVID-19 vaccines with the rest of the world. Responding to questions from reporters, the prime minister comments on discussions among the G7 leaders concerning efforts to free two Canadians detained in China, as well as negotiations with the United States concerning the reopening of the Canada–U.S. border.
