COVID-19 in Ontario: Province reports its first death linked to AstraZeneca vaccine – May 25, 2021
In Toronto, Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health, and Dr. Barbara Yaffe, associate chief medical officer of health, provide an update on the province’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. The province is reporting its first death of an individual who developed a rare blood clot associated with the AstraZeneca vaccine. The person received his first dose of that vaccine at the end of April and the final cause of death has yet to be officially determined. Ontario is reporting 2,485 new cases of COVID-19 over the last two days.
