In a virtual news conference, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh discusses his party’s proposal concerning relief for student debt. The news conference comes following the release of a report by the parliamentary budget officer assessing the NDP plan, which calls for debt forgiveness of up to $20,000 per student. Singh is joined by NDP youth critic Lindsay Mathyssen, who submitted the report request to the PBO with her caucus colleague Leah Gazan. The NDP leader faces questions from reporters on Bill 96, the Quebec government’s proposed legislation to reform the province’s French-language-protection laws, and whether the provincial government can unilaterally amend Canada’s Constitution.
