In Halifax, Iain Rankin, the premier of Nova Scotia, and Dr. Robert Strang, the provincial chief medical officer of health, provide an update on the province’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. They announce a 2-week closing of all schools in the Halifax region starting April 27. Dr. Strang also outlines many new restrictions, including prohibiting formal gatherings like sports and cultural events, as well as funerals. The update comes as Nova Scotia reports a provincial record for daily infections with 66 new COVID-19 cases.
