In Winnipeg, Dr. Brent Roussin, Manitoba’s chief public health officer, provides an update on the province’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. He says the government is currently considering loosening public-health restrictions, such as increasing the number of people allowed for household gatherings. The province is also studying the possibility of eliminating the essential items list for retail stores, while maintaining indoor capacity limits. The new measures are still under review but could take effect starting January 22, 2021.
