In Fredericton, Dr. Jennifer Russell, New Brunswick’s chief medical officer of health, and Premier Blaine Higgs provide an update on the province’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. They announce that Zone 1 (Moncton region), Zone 2 (Saint John region) and Zone 3 (Fredericton region) are moving to the red level of alert at midnight. The three zones join Zone 4 (Edmundston region), which was moved to the highest alert level on January 18 following an increase in the number of cases. Schools will remain open in red level areas.
