At a news conference in Winnipeg, Brian Pallister, the premier of Manitoba, comments on changes to his provincial cabinet. Cameron Friesen will no longer serve as minister of health, and instead will act as minister of justice and attorney general for the province. The health portfolio will be split in two, with Heather Stefanson taking the lead on the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic response as minister of health and seniors, while Audrey Gordon holds the newly created position of minister of mental health, wellness and recovery. Minister Gordon is the first Black cabinet minister in Manitoba’s history.

Other cabinet changes include ministers Cliff Cullen (formerly Justice) replacing Kelvin Goertzen (formerly Education), and Mr. Goertzen appointed the new deputy premier as well as minister of legislative and public affairs.

Premier Pallister also answers questions about his government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
