In Ottawa, Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, and Dr. Howard Njoo, deputy chief public health officer, join federal ministers Patty Hajdu (health), Dominic LeBlanc (intergovernmental affairs) and Bill Blair (public safety) to provide an update on Canada’s response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. They discuss the measures being taken by the government to prevent the spread of a new highly infectious strain of the coronavirus that has been identified in the United Kingdom. Minister Blair says the suspension of flights coming from the U.K. remains in effect, while additional measures that could be required are being reviewed.
