Premier Brian Pallister discusses Manitoba’s fiscal outlook – December 17, 2020
Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister and provincial Finance Minister Scott Fielding speak with reporters in Winnipeg about their government’s mid-year report for the 2020-21 fiscal year. The revised projections forecast a lower deficit than announced in September, primarily due to $648 million in federal transfer supports the province received during the COVID-19 pandemic. The province is now expecting the deficit to be just over $2 billion, while it was projecting a $2.9 -billion deficit in the previous forecast. The premier also answers reporters’ questions on his government’s response to the pandemic.
