Second Repair Required for Highland Drive Water Main
City crews have returned to the scene of a water main break on Highland Drive for further repairs. Late last night, crews located a break on a 300 mm (12″) water main and were able to complete the repairs, however the a second break occurred earlier today. The repair is expected to be complete by late Saturday afternoon.
Crews have been able to maintain adequate water supply to the Juniper neighbourhood but are asking residents to once again reduce their water use where possible by not running laundry machines, dishwashers, or taking long showers for the duration of the repair.
“We understand limiting water usage on the weekend is more challenging,” said Greg Wightman, the City’s Utility Services Manager. “We’re asking residents to do what they can to ensure we can maintain sufficient water supply and fire suppression.”
Traffic impacts can be expected throughout the weekend and motorists asked to reduce their speeds while near the work zone, and should expect delays.
