Prince Edward Island update on COVID-19 – December 1, 2020
In Charlottetown, Dr. Heather Morrison, the chief public health officer of Prince Edward Island, and Marion Dowling, Health P.E.I.’s COVID-19 response lead, provide an update on the province’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. Dr. Morrison also clarifies some issues related to travel, masks, vaccines, and holiday gatherings. P.E.I. suspended its participation in the Atlantic Bubble and suspended non-essential travel in and out of the province for a two-week period, effective November 24. The bubble, originally announced on July 3, 2020, allowed residents of the four Atlantic provinces to travel freely between those jurisdictions without needing to self-isolate. The province is urging residents who are temporarily living off the Island and plan to return for the holiday season to apply for pre-travel approval.
