Doug Ford, the premier of Ontario, speaks with reporters after making an announcement at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. He is joined by Lisa MacLeod, the provincial minister of heritage, sport, tourism and culture industries. The premier announces that the provincial government is committing $3 million for the inaugural 2022 Valour Games, a multi-sport competition for Canada’s wounded soldiers and veterans. He also announces his government’s upcoming legislation to ensure employers cannot prohibit employees from wearing poppies. The legislation is being introduced in response to Whole Foods reportedly banning its employees from wearing poppies while on the job.
Note: Facing widespread criticism, Whole Foods later announced that it would allow its employees to wear poppies.
