Alberta chief medical officer discusses province's case of swine flu variant – November 4, 2020
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health, speaks with reporters in Edmonton about a case of variant Influenza A (H1N2)v that has been confirmed in central Alberta. This is the first case of the rare swine flu detected in Canada. She is joined by Dr. Keith Lehman, the province’s chief provincial veterinarian. The case was detected in mid-October after a resident sought medical care. Public health officials and Alberta Agriculture and Forestry have launched an investigation to determine the source of the virus and to verify that no spread occurred.
