Ontario Premier Doug Ford speaks with reporters at Queen’s Park, where he announces a $52.5-million investment to recruit and retain 3,700 more frontline health-care workers and caregivers as part of the province’s COVID-19 fall preparedness plan. The premier also announces that provincial health officials have confirmed Ontario is now in its second wave of COVID-19. He is joined by provincial cabinet ministers Christine Elliott (health) and Rod Phillips (finance), as well as Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health. The province began rolling out details of its fall preparedness plan on September 22 amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.
