New bridge to defend against flooding in Dawson Creek

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has invested over $98 million on the extensive response and recovery work completed since June 2016, when flooding caused significant damage to roads and bridges throughout the Peace region.

Major flood recovery program projects underway:

Fur Thief Creek Bridge (west of Chetwynd)
Project: Replacement of the existing culvert with a two-lane, 26-metre-long bridge crossing Fur Thief Creek
Budget: $6 million
Status: Estimated completion fall 2020

Rolla Road Bridge (east of Dawson Creek)
Project: Replacement of the existing bridge with a two-lane, 50-metre-long bridge crossing Dawson Creek
Budget: $20 million
Status: Estimated completion summer 2020

8th Street Bridge (Dawson Creek)
Project: Replacement of three existing culverts with a five-lane, 45-metre-long bridge crossing Dawson Creek
Budget: $28 million
Status: Estimated completion 2023
