Nunavut confirms its first case of COVID-19 – April 30, 2020



In Iqaluit, Joe Savikataaq, the premier of Nunavut, and Dr. Michael Patterson, Nunavut’s chief medical officer of health, discuss the territory’s first confirmed case of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) in Pond Inlet. All travel to and from the community is now restricted, with the exception of cargo and emergency travel. The premier had announced the previous day that the territory’s public health emergency was being extended until May 14.
