COVID-19: Alberta orders closure of non-essential businesses – March 27, 2020



In Edmonton, Jason Kenney, the premier of Alberta, Jason Nixon, the minister of environment and parks, Nate Glubish, the minister responsible for Service Alberta, and Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health, provide an update on the province’s response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. Premier Kenney announces a number of new measures intended to slow the spread of the virus, including the closure of all non-essential businesses in the province. He also introduces provisions aimed at limiting the economic impact of the outbreak, including protections for tenants.
