NDP MP Charlie Angus on RCMP's use of facial recognition technology

NDP ethics critic Charlie Angus holds a news conference in Ottawa to raise privacy concerns over the RCMP’s use of facial recognition technology. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner has launched an investigation into the national police force’s use of the technology. The House of Commons ethics committee also voted in favour of Angus’ motion to study the impact of using facial recognition technology.

The RCMP initially denied it was currently using the controversial technology, but acknowledged in a February 27 statement that it had been using Clearview AI’s software for approximately four months for online child sexual exploitation investigations.
