Transport ministers speak with reporters in Toronto

Federal Transport Minister Marc Garneau holds a news conference with his provincial and territorial counterparts following their full-day meeting in Toronto. The annual meeting of Canada’s transportation and highway safety ministers comes amid ongoing protests in support of the Wet’suwet’en Nation’s fight against the Coastal GasLink pipeline being built in northern B.C. Protests have disrupted passenger and freight rail traffic across the country. Via Rail has cancelled most of its train services and CN Rail has shut down its eastern Canadian network over blockades.
