A marketing partnership between the City of Kamloops and the Kamloops Blazers brings a new level of enjoyment to fans with the introduction of the “Fanboni”. This special Zamboni is customized to allow up to eight hockey fans to ride on it. The Fanboni has a seating area that mimics an ice rink with mini boards and a hockey rink floor mat. Its maiden voyage was at the Blazers season home opener against the Spokane Chiefs.
During each home game, select fans will now have the chance to ride in the Fanboni during the first intermission. The Fanboni will also be in use for fan interactions during community events such as Canada Day and the Santa Claus Parade.
“This marketing partnership with the City of Kamloops is just another example of a world-class fan experience here at Sandman Centre,” said Don Moores, the Kamloops Blazers’ President and COO. “The feedback we have received from children and adults who rode in the Fanboni has been tremendously positive.”
The City of Kamloops acquired a pre-owned Zamboni earlier this year, and the Civic Operations Departments’ mechanical staff designed and customized it with special paint, logos, and lights.
“We’re excited to make this equipment available,” said Jeff Putnam, the City’s Parks and Civic Facilities Manager. “It’s a great initiative that brings positive energy and smiles to many fans.”
