The Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory opens its doors to the community

August 29, 2019 – Kaleden, British Columbia – National Research Council of Canada

Media and the public are invited to the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory to immerse themselves into the fascinating world of radio astronomy.

Radio astronomy gives astronomers a powerful alternate view of the Universe by letting them detect radio emissions imperceptible to the human eye. Working with researchers around the world, our astronomers and engineers develop innovative technology that is helping them answer key questions about the nature of the Universe, from the workings of gravity to the origins of life.

Astronomers will guide guests with presentations, demonstrations and tours of the various telescopes on the ground. Science activities for children are also planned.

Date:          Saturday, September 7, 2019

Time:         10 am to 5 pm (PT)

Location:  Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory
                    717 White Lake Road
                    Kaleden, British Columbia
